Safety Precautions to Be Taken After Getting a Tattoo:
- Do NOT expose fresh tattoo to Air-Borne Bacteria -> A bandage is wrapped on a fresh tattoo. Do NOT remove the bandage till you reach home or for atleast 2 hours to a max of 4 hrs. It is important to protect your fresh tattoo from Air-Borne Bacteria.
- After reaching home, remove the tattoo wrap/bandage and clean the tattoo gently mild soap foam and wash it with lukewarm water. Pat dry the tattoo with a clean towel preferably paper tissue. Do NOT rub in this process. Follow this process every day till the tattoo is healed completely.
- After cleaning the tattoo, apply a very thin layer A & D ointment given by us for at least 3 to 4 times a day. Don’t put too much of cream, let the tattoo breath. This is very important to speed up the healing process and avoid infection.
- Let the tattoo breath – > Do not re wrap or cover the tattoo as long as you are at home. Even while going outside, cover it with soft cloth to avoid dust or bacteria. Avoid sleeping on the tattoo to prevent it from sticking. It is important to keep your tattoo clean and dry during the healing process.
- Do NOT expose the tattoo to direct SUN as much as possible for the first few weeks even after healing completely. Use suns protect lotions if the tattoo has to be exposed to SUN after the healing for atleast one month.
- Do not use any other anti bacterial cream or lotions. If tiny boils, rash like symptoms or fluid seem to appear, clean tattoo immediately and leave it dry for awhile this is something cause by too much medication and smothering of the tattoo.
- Before taking shower, apply waterproof cream like petroleum jelly or coconut oil. Do not let the tattooed skin get in touch with direct soap or shampoo during healing time. However, you can use the foam from a mild soap as mentioned earlier above.
- Do NOT Touch your tattoo, this is the most common cause of infection.
- DO NOT Soak, Swimming is strictly not allowed atleast for 2 weeks or till the tattoo is completely healed. During healing process do not Gym or do stretching exercises. Do NOT do any such activities which will soak the tattoo for more than a minute.
- Wear soft loose clothes for the first week till the tattoo is dried.
- During the healing process, after 2 or 3 days your tattoo may have little scabbing or may feel itchy. Don’t pick, peel or scratch. Let it dry and come out automatically. If you cannot control then apply the A & D ointment or coconut oil.
- If any of following symptoms: A lot of pain, deep redness around the tattoo or a rash develops (Bumps on or around the tattoo as with an allergic reaction) call for suggestions or product alternatives. Feel free to ask if you have any questions or doubt about the healing of your tattoo.
- A new tattoo will look flaky and gross for the first week. After the scab falls off, there will be a white scaly layer on top of the tattoo. This is dead skin and it will peel off in couple of days.
- Avoid eating food like potatoes, mango, chana, non-vegetarian or drink alcohol. Eat fresh fruits, vegetables and take some multivitamin supplements during the healing process.
